How to Set Up Pricing & Payment Options in OpenSolar

Configuring your pricing and payment options is a critical step in building customized, accurate proposals for your customers. OpenSolar allows you to set up and apply these options at both the account-wide level and the individual project level.

This article guides you through setting up pricing schemes and payment options in the Control Zone, and how they integrate into your Design Studio proposals.

Where to Configure Pricing & Payment Options:

To access pricing and payment configuration tools:

• Click the Control Zone icon in the top-left corner of the OpenSolar app.

• Select Pricing & Payment from the left-hand menu.

How to Create a New Pricing Scheme:

Your Price Schemes determine how your project price is calculated and displayed to customers. You can create multiple schemes to apply automatically or based on location.

• In the Price Schemes tab, click + Add Pricing Scheme.

• Give your scheme a descriptive title (e.g., Price per Watt - Florida).

• Choose a pricing formula from the dropdown:

  • Fixed Price

  • Price Per Watt

  • Markup Percentage

  • Price Per Watt by Size

• Depending on the pricing formula, different fields will be available to add the information.

• Use the Auto-Apply Toggle:

  • Apply globally to all projects, or

  • Restrict to specific parameters

• Click Save to finalize.

Your new pricing scheme will now be available for selection during project design in Studio.

How to create a new Payment Options:

Payment options give your customers flexibility to see how their different payment options compare. OpenSolar supports multiple payment types: Cash, Loan, Lease, Regular Payments, and PPA.

• Navigate to the Payment Options section under Pricing & Payment.

• Click + Add Payment Option.

• Enter a:

  • Title (e.g., Test Cash Option)

  • Payment Type (Cash, Loan, Regular Payment, Lease, PPA)

  • Description

  • Deposit Amount (optional)

• Optional: Expand Advanced Settings to customize:

  • Terms & conditions

  • Quotation table appearance (using custom table elements)

• Click Save.

You can now apply this payment option during project design.

Using These Options in the Design:

Once your pricing and payment options are created in the Control Zone, they will be available when designing each system in the Design tab of a project. You can:

• Apply different pricing schemes in the pricing tab of the design. 

• Select from multiple payment options to suit customer preferences within the payment tab of the project. 

• Instantly preview how changes impact the final proposal pricing and structure
