OpenSolar 3.0 will see the introduction of Ada - a suite of AI tools for the solar professions who are driving the global transition to clean energy and electrification.
As with any AI tool, it is important to understand how your data is handled.
How we protect your data with AI:
We have agreements in place to ensure that the data used by Ada Auto Design, Chat and Voice is not used to train 3rd party generative AI tools. We apply similar protections to conversation transcripts as we use for sensitive commercial and personal data.
What data is Ada trained on?
We train Ada on various datasets, including publicly available documentation (OpenSolar Help Centre, API docs, etc), anonymized datasets from OpenSolar usage and designs, and publicly available information across the web.
Does Ada have access to my org's information?
When you interact with Ada, the data that Ada can access is restricted to match the same data that you can access, generally using the very same roles and permissions controls that are used by the rest of the OpenSolar App. e.g. if you ask a question like "can you find my project at 123 Smith Street", Ada will be able to search your project list to find this answer just like you would if you were searching yourself in the App.
Data is only shared between orgs if access is specifically granted through TEAMS or another equivalent sharing feature. Ada does not add additional access to data in your own org or other orgs, but Ada makes it easier to access or search that data.
Ada and the environment
Ada streamlines solar design and installation, making it faster, more efficient, and more effective. We acknowledge that AI can consume significant energy and other resources, but we believe that investing in the acceleration of solar energy and electrification is a responsible use of global resources, especially as data centers are increasingly being powered by renewables. At the same time, we are always looking for ways to make Ada more efficient.
