Summary:
The following article shows you how to add annotations to your project in OpenSolar.
Annotations allow you to mark the current or future location of key items in your design. This can help your customers and installing team better understand the project layout, and can also help you build accurate PV Site Information documents.
Adding annotations to your project:
To add annotations to a project, open the project and navigate to the Design tab.
From the Design tab:
- Select Tools
- Open Annotations
- Drag and drop any annotation from the library onto your design
Once the annotation has been added, you can update the annotation details.
You can:
- Add a 3-letter title, if required
- Update the description of the annotation
- Choose whether the annotation should show in the proposal
Showing annotations in the proposal:
If you would like an annotation to appear in the customer proposal, select the option to “Show” the annotation in the proposal. To keep it off the proposal, choose “Hide”.
This allows you to highlight important project details for your customer, such as the location of equipment, access points, or other site-specific items.
Annotations in the PV Site Information document:
Annotations added to your design will automatically be included in your PV Site Information document.
This helps ensure the Site Information document contains the relevant project and site details required by your installing team.
You can read more about generating a PV Site Information document here: Generate a PV (Solar) Site Information Plan.
