Overview
The Incentive Expiration feature provides a powerful tool to manage time-sensitive incentives. By setting a specific expiration date, you can automate the removal of an incentive from unsold proposals after your internal cutoff deadline has passed.
How It Works: The Core Logic
The feature operates on a simple and safe principle: it only affects future, unsold business.
- Automatic Removal from Unsold Projects: Once an incentive's expiration date passes, it will be automatically removed from any unsold project the next time the proposal is viewed or the system is recalculated.
- No Impact on Sold Projects: The expiration date has no effect on incentives that are already part of a sold project. Your existing contracts are safe.
- Manual Overrides: If you need to make an exception for a specific customer, you can still manually add an expired incentive back to a project.
How to Set Your Incentive Expiration Date
- Navigate to the Control section of your account.
- Click on Other, then select Incentives.
- Find the incentive and click the Edit button.
- Scroll to find the Incentive Expiration date field.
- Select the date that aligns with your internal sales cutoff deadline.
- Click Save.
🇺🇸 The Federal Investment Tax Credit (ITC)
To qualify for the current federal ITC, a residential solar system must be "placed in service" by December 31, 2025.
Because the process of installation, inspection, and interconnection can take several months, most solar installers must set an internal sales cutoff date much earlier than the federal deadline to ensure projects are completed in time.
This is where the Incentive Expiration feature becomes essential. It allows you to set your company's unique sales cutoff date directly in the system.
- Proactive Safety Net: To help you prepare, we have set a default expiration date of December 1, 2025, on all standard ITC incentives.
- Action Required: It is crucial that you review this default and update it to a date that reflects your company's actual sales deadline for ITC-qualified projects.
