Summary
OpenSolar now gives you even more flexibility when designing systems, by allowing you to apply optimizers to individual panels or panel groups within the same project. This means you no longer need to apply optimizers to every panel in the system—giving you full control over how you model complex shading scenarios or site-specific constraints.
How to Apply Optimizers to Specific Panels or Arrays
Follow the steps below to selectively apply optimizers to your panel layout:
- Add Panels as usual: Start your design by placing panels as you normally would in Design Mode. You can also take advantage of OpenSolar’s new support for multiple panel types on the same system. Learn more.
-
Choose to Add Optimizers: Once your panel arrays are placed, you can choose to apply optimizers in two ways:
- To all panels in the system
- To selected panels only
To apply the same optimizer to all panels:
Using the prompt on the panel tab select the blue hyperlink that says All:
This same prompt will appear when a specific array is selected.
Once the "All" is selected, a pop-up will appear for you to select the optimizer.
To apply different optimizers to different panels:
To apply the optimizer to some panels, select the some hyperlink button
This same prompt will appear when a specific array is selected.
Use the pop-up to select the optimizer that will be used. After the select is clicked, simply click and drag over the panels you want to apply for that optimizer.
Once selected, those panels will be grouped into a new panel array that has optimizers applied. This array is fully editable and can be reviewed, renamed, or repositioned as needed—just like any other array in your system.
