How to customize project tags and actions

Project tags in OpenSolar help categorize and organize projects based on their characteristics, making it easier to assign, manage, and locate them. Tags can also enable workflows such as fetchable project queues and auto-created activities for assigned users.

Creating a project Tag:

Project tags will allow you to filter and identify projects by status and designation. For example, you may want to designate a particular project with the following tags: EV charge Station, Main Breaker Upgrade, Electrcical Work Required.

To create these tags, you want to go to Control > Company > Business processes > Manage project tags. 

From the project tags window, you can edit and delete existing tags or create new ones to use. To create a new one, select the + Add tag in the top right corner. 

Give your tag a Title and turn on the "Allow Fetch" if you want other team members to take a project from a queue of projects with this tag. 

When the allow fetch is selected, this will enable two more options:

• Remove tag when fetched: When this is turned on, it means the tag will be removed from the project when this is fetched.
• Create activity when fetched: When turned on, this means that an activity will be automatically created for the team member within the project so they can mark it as complete when it is done. 

Remember to select Save to ensure the tag is correctly created.

Assigning a tag to a project:

Once a tag is created, it can be assigned to a project. 

To achieve this, you want to go into the Manage tab of a project.

At the top of the window, there is a tags section. Use the + Add Tags to assign a tag to the project.

Filtering by tags:

Once tags are assigned to the project, these can be filtered by those tags.

To achieve this, go to the project zone and select Sort & Filter. From the side menu pop-up, select the tags option and specify the tag you want to use. Click on confirm and this will show all the projects that have that tag.

Creating a queue for tags:

After a tag is created and assigned, it can also be searched for in a queue. This queue will be visible from the Home zone by expanding the Overview button:
