OpenSolar enables solar professionals to enhance proposals with premium, high-resolution imagery on a project basis, supporting more accurate system designs and polished proposals.
Tip: Only activate premium imagery on projects that require high-resolution mapping to avoid unnecessary costs.
To access Imagery Marketplace, follow the steps below:
STEP 1: Ensure there is no existing NMOS or API integration
Imagery Marketplace is not compatible with Nearmap on OpenSolar (NMOS). To disconnect your OpenSolar account from your Nearmap subscription:
- Navigate to Control > Company > Settings
- Expand the section "Nearmap on OpenSolar"
- Select DOWNGRADE FROM NEARMAP ON OPENSOLAR.
All users will receive an invite to reset their password. This must be done before signing into OpenSolar again.
Set Up Your Wallet
Your Wallet is used to pay for services such as premium imagery.
Wallet access is only available to admin users.
Activate Your Wallet
- Navigate to Control > Integrations > Your Wallet
- Review and accept the Terms & Conditions
- Select Set up your Wallet
- Add a valid payment method.
Add Funds to Your Wallet
Keeping funds available in your Wallet avoids disruption by ensuring premium imagery and any other paid services continue running smoothly for you and your team.
Funds can be added using either of the following options:
Auto Top-Up
- Select Auto-Top-Up.
- Toggle Enable Auto-Top-Up to on.
- Set your minimum balance. When your Wallet balance drops below this amount, an automatic top-up will be triggered within two minutes.
- Set your Auto Top-Up Amount. This is the amount that will be added to your Wallet each time the balance falls below the minimum threshold.
- Select Save.
Manual Top-Up
- Select One Time Payment.
- Enter the amount you would like to add to your Wallet.
- Select Save.
Activate Premium Imagery
Once your Wallet is active, enable premium imagery by:
- Navigate to Control > Integrations > Integrations & Services
- Locate your preferred premium imagery provider
- Enable the feature by clicking “View” on the card, read the T&Cs, and select “Enable”.
This step simply enables the feature on your account. It does not dedicate funds from your Wallet.

Access Period
Access to premium imagery is time-limited based on the following access periods.
| Time Since Purchase | Access |
| 0–30 days | Full access to all available vertical and 3D imagery (if applicable). You can add multiple views. |
| 31–365 days | Only previously added views remain accessible. Adding new views requires another purchase. |
| 366+ days | Imagery access expires and a new purchase is required to regain access. |
OpenSolar does not guarantee continued access to Nearmap imagery beyond 90 days from the initial access date in the event that the imagery services become unavailable or are no longer supported through OpenSolar.
Important Tips for Using Premium Imagery
- Ensure the map is centred over the correct site location in the pop-up dialog before selecting “Confirm & Purchase”
- If your Wallet has insufficient funds, the “Confirm & Purchase” button will be greyed out until an admin of your account has competed a top-up
- Multiple imagery purchases can occur on a single project when:
- You require more than the standard area of imagery allocated in a single purchase (this is denoted by the square box showing in the dialogue before purchasing)
- A previous imagery purchase has expired (i.e. it was purchased 90+ days ago)
- Purchase history can be viewed in the Imagery menu, by selecting the desired imagery provider and then selecting “View Purchases”.
Managing Team Permissions
Only admins can access:
- Your Wallet
- Integrations settings
However, admins can allow other users to activate premium imagery in their projects. To do this:
- Navigate to Control > Company > Custom Roles
- Edit or create a role
- Scroll to the bottom
- Enable Project - Purchases
Invoices for purchases
To access a history of all purchases made in your account and download invoices:
- Navigate to Control > Integrations > Your Wallet
- Select “Wallet Activity” in the top right
- Here you can view a list of all purchases made
- Click the hyperlinked ID of a given purchase to view the invoice for that purchase
- Imagery purchases include the project ID, date/time, transaction amount and exact location (lat/lon) that the purchase was made for.
