Overview
OpenSolar has introduced a NETCC Disclosures section in new Australian Classic Proposal Templates to help businesses communicate important information to customers in accordance with the New Energy Tech Consumer Code (NETCC).
This section includes information about installation timelines, warranty contacts, and consumer cancellation rights.
This article explains where to find the NETCC Disclosures section, how to customize it, and how it applies to new and existing proposal templates.
Where to Find the NETCC Disclosures Section
To locate and edit the NETCC Disclosures section:
- Navigate to Control > Purchase Experience > Proposal Templates.
- Open the Classic Proposal Template you want to edit.
- Locate the Proposal Content section.
- Find NETCC Disclosures, positioned immediately before OpenSolar Disclaimer.
- Review and customize the content to reflect your business information and policies.
Note: The NETCC Disclosures section is enabled by default in newly created Australian Classic Proposal Templates.
What's Included in the NETCC Disclosures Section?
New Australian Classic Proposal Templates automatically include default NETCC disclosure wording covering the following areas:
NETCC Compliance Statement
The default wording states that your business is bound by the New Energy Tech Consumer Code (NETCC).
Expected Installation Timeline
The default installation timeframe is 4–6 weeks from the date of contract signing.
You should update this timeframe to reflect your business's expected installation schedule.
Warranty Contact Information
The section includes placeholders for your business's warranty contact details, including:
- Supplier business name
- Australian Business Number (ABN)
- Business address
- Contact person's name
- Email address
- Phone number
Important: Replace all placeholder information with your business's correct contact details before sending a proposal to a customer.
Cooling-Off and Cancellation Rights
The default disclosures also include information about consumer cancellation rights, including a 10-business-day cooling-off period for unsolicited consumer agreements.
Review this wording to ensure it accurately reflects the requirements applicable to your business and the agreement being offered.
How to Customize NETCC Disclosures
The NETCC Disclosures section is fully editable, allowing you to adjust the default wording to suit your business.
Before sending proposals, we recommend reviewing and updating:
- Installation timeline: Replace the default 4–6-week timeframe with your expected installation schedule.
- Warranty contact information: Enter your business's correct supplier and contact details.
- Disclosure wording: Review the default information and make any necessary adjustments to reflect your business's policies and applicable obligations.
Once you've completed your changes, save the proposal template.
What Happens if You Don't Update the Placeholders?
If you attempt to save a template that still contains the default NETCC placeholders, OpenSolar will display a reminder prompting you to review the information.
You will have two options:
- Update NETCC disclosures: Return to the section to update the placeholder information.
- Save without updating: Save the template without replacing the existing placeholders.
Important: If you choose to save without updating the placeholders, they will remain visible in any customer proposal generated using that template.
We strongly recommend completing all NETCC disclosure fields before sharing proposals with customers.
Additional System Performance Disclaimer
New Australian Classic Proposal Templates also include the following statement within the System Performance Disclaimer:
Your electricity tariff rates may change as a result of installing the system, and may charge for grid connection and/or meter reconfiguration. You should contact your electricity retailer for further information.
This statement informs customers that installing a solar system may affect their electricity tariff arrangements and that additional grid connection or meter reconfiguration charges may apply.
What About Existing Proposal Templates?
If you created an Australian Classic Proposal Template before the NETCC Disclosures section was introduced, your existing template content will remain unchanged.
The new section will not automatically be added to previously created templates.
To include NETCC Disclosures in an existing template:
- Navigate to Control > Purchase Experience > Proposal Templates.
- Open your existing Classic Proposal Template.
- Go to Proposal Content.
- Add the NETCC Disclosures section.
- Customize the wording and enter your business details.
- Save your changes.
