Interactive Demo
Demo Overview: Learn how to create and send a simplified quote for non-design services using OpenSolar's Quick Quote workflow.
Creating a Quick Quote Project
By default, OpenSolar opens in the traditional Design Project workflow. To start a project using the simplified Quick Quote flow:
Navigate to Home: Go to your OpenSolar main dashboard/home page.
Select Project Flow: Click the flow selector chip directly underneath the address input field.
Choose Quick Quote: Select Quick Quote from the drop-down menu.
Enter Address: Type in the project address or coordinates as normal.
Create Project: Follow the prompts to finish setting up the project.
Note: Quick Quote is ideal for services like HVAC, heat pumps, roofing, electrical repairs, and standard maintenance that do not require 3D solar system design.
Defining Project Services
Once your project is created, you will land on the Manage page:
Locate Services: In the project header, click + Add Services.
Select Included Services: Check off all relevant business services included in the job (e.g., Electrical, Roofing, Heat Pump).
Confirm: Click Confirm.
Categorizing project services keeps your sales pipeline organized and makes filtering opportunities simple across your organization.
Building & Pricing Your Quote
To begin building your quote breakdown, navigate to the Create Quote tab in the project top bar.
Cover Message & Scope of Work
Cover Message: Write a personalized greeting or executive summary for your client.
Scope of Work: Detail the exact services, materials, and expectations associated with the job.
Line Items & Pricing
Manual Line Items: Type line items directly into the table (e.g., Labour, Parts).
Set Pricing: Enter the Quantity, Unit Price (inc. tax), and Tax Rate for each row. Total prices will automatically calculate.
Adders & Discounts: Click + Adder from library to pull pre-saved adders or discounts directly from your company settings.
Incentives: If applicable, add government or local incentives/rebates in the Incentives section to adjust the net pricing.
Pro Tip: As you edit line items, tax rates, and incentives, the Quote Summary on the right side of the screen dynamically updates in real time!
Configuring Payment Setup
Manage how your customer pays for the job directly within the quote editor:
Invoice Settings: Configure invoice options in the top-right Payment Setup panel.
Add Payment Options: Click + Add Payment Options to view available payment options.
Select Options: Check off desired payment options (e.g., Cash, Finance, Loan).
Save: Click Save to lock in payment options for the customer proposal.
Previewing & Customizing Your Quote
Before delivering the proposal, review its appearance and layout:
