Checkout Process Overview

Whether you are ordering via the Order by Project flow or the Shop flow, the checkout process follows the same core steps.

When to Use Each Flow

• Order by Project – Used when your Bill of Materials (BOM) is finalised in the Hardware tab for a specific project and you’re ready to order components for installation.

• Shop – Used when you’ve added products to your cart directly from the Shop and are ready to place a standalone order (not tied to a specific project).

Steps in the Checkout Process

1. Access Checkout

   • Order by Project: Once your BOM is ready, navigate to the Hardware tab in your project.

   • Shop: Go to your cart once all required products have been added.

2. Provide Required Information

   • Enter the delivery address and contact details.

   • Choose the delivery method (if applicable).

   • Select your payment method (this is available depending on the distributor)

3. Review Distributor Baskets

   • For each distributor in your order, review the items, quantities, and costs in their basket.

4. Confirm and Place Your Order

   • Follow any distributor-specific instructions.

   • Submit your order to proceed with fulfilment.

🇦🇺 Australia Suppliers

Solar Outlet Checkout

When placing an order with Solar Outlet, the checkout process varies depending on your chosen payment method. Upon landing on the checkout page, a banner will display a summary of the next steps for each selected payment method. After entering your contact details and scrolling down to payment options, the checkout will split into two paths:

If paying with Solar Juice Credits:

• Additional fields will appear, including an option to select a delivery method.

• Complete these fields before finalising the checkout.

If paying by other methods (e.g. cash or card):

• Fewer fields will be shown.

• You’ll need to review your Parts List and click Send Order.

• You’ll then be redirected to Solar Outlet’s Shopify page to complete payment and confirm the order.

🇬🇧 United Kingdom Suppliers

When ordering from a supplier, the checkout page will display a summary banner outlining the next steps after your order is submitted.

Here’s an example:

Each supplier may configure their own checkout experience, including:

• Available payment methods
• Delivery or collection options
• Requested delivery dates
• Additional supplier-specific fields

Example checkout configuration:

Once all checkout details are completed and you click Send Order:

• You’ll be redirected to the Manage Order page.
• Within a few minutes, you’ll receive an order confirmation email containing the details submitted during checkout.
• The supplier team will then review and process your order.

📌 If you do not receive the order confirmation email, contact OpenSolar Support and provide your Order ID from the email. If you have received the confirmation email but have not heard from the supplier, contact the supplier’s support team directly and reference the same Order ID to track it.

🇺🇸 United States Suppliers

When ordering from a supplier, the checkout page will display a summary banner outlining the next steps after your order is submitted.
