OpenSolar and Google are partnering to make it easier for a homeowner who is searching for solar to get a quote from qualified contractors. We’re working on some new features which we’re currently beta testing with a closed group. This article addresses how those features currently work.
If you are interested in participating in this program when it becomes available to a wider group of users, please click this link and fill out the form.
If you have this feature enabled in your account, log in to your OpenSolar account and navigate to the control zone.
To set up and configure your account for this program, open the Google Leads section of the control zone and click on "Lead Generation Page".
There, you'll find a layout which will allow you to configure your lead generation page that customers will see when they're requesting a lead from you. You'll need to input your Google Place ID. If you need help finding your Google Place ID, click here to use Google's place ID finder. When you drop your business address in the place ID finder, you'll get your place ID. Dropping your place ID into the lead generation page and clicking SAVE will load your Google reviews and ratings.
Where you already have content built into your OpenSolar account, we'll import content into your lead generation page. Using the sliders and layout page, you can customize the content displayed in your lead generation landing page. This is the content that will be displayed when a search user is sent from the Google OneBox to your account to enter their information to request a quote. You'll be able to preview the landing page by navigating to the URL displayed in the "Your profile URL" field.
When new leads land in your account, the assigned Google leads team member (see screenshot above) will receive an email notification. You'll see a project created in your list, and it will be displayed automatically as HIGH priority and there will be a "Google Lead" chip added to the project. Clicking on the "Google Leads" filter will focus your filter view down to show ONLY projects with the Google Lead chip.
Once a Google lead project is marked as "sold" in the Manage page, we require you to enter the sale price of solar, battery and other items within the Manage > Sale tab.
We'll be monitoring progress of your leads in the pilot and are eager to hear your feedback on how it's working and how we can improve the process.
