Mounting System Design

Hello,

I started using OpenSolar last week, and so far I have enjoyed learning this new tool. With regards to the solar mounting system/roof design, previously I have being using Schletter’s own proprietary software to do this and I find myself a little unsure about the capability of Opensolar in this respect.

I guess the main question I have is whether Opensolar is capable of carrying out the mechanical design? Its seems all I can do is manually add a quantity of hooks, rails,  clamps etc as there seems to be no automatic way for Opensolar to carry out any form of loading analysis after I specify the parts I am using, and then proposed an optimised configuration? And subsequently, there appears to be no engineering drawing output showing hook placement, panel placement etc.

So my current working assumption is that Opensolar still expects me to carry out the roof/mounting design within my Schletter application, then add a quantity of parts to the BOM within Opensolar. Is that correct?
