Uploading and Sizing Images
The on-line video tutorial showing how to upload and size an image doesn’t match the current version of Open Solar. The tutorial says that once the image has been dragged and dropped onto the design screen we should click on the “Advanced” icon. There is supposed to be a “node” tool in the Advance dropdown, in the current on-line version there is no “node” tool to use to help scale the image in the "Advanced" drop down menu. I am working with a house that is under construction and there is no satellite imagery. I have switched from 2D to Manual but in both modes the “node” tool doesn’t show up. Before using Open Solar I was working in Aurora Solar’s system which allows you to build a 3D model of the building and superimpose it over the site. Aurora also has the ability to adjust image transparency so you can position it over the correct spot on the satellite image.
Questions:
- Where is the “node” tool in the latest version of Open Solar?
- What is the technique for scaling and uploaded image?
- How does one see satellite imagery of the site with an uploaded image like the one below?
- Is there a transparency feature in Open Solar so I can correctly locate the image?
- Is it possible to draw a 3D model of a roof in Open Solar where it doesn’t have a 3D data from its LIDAR data set ?

Hey Kelly,
The Node tool has been renamed 'roof' and it is found in the same location where the 'node' tool was previously located,
