    OpenSolar Support

    Hi there,

Thanks for reaching out. At this time, OpenSolar does not support designs with more than one panel type. Apologies for this inconvenience, however I'll gladly raise this as an enhancement request to be considered for future releases!

Very much agree. This makes it difficult to work with existing / returning customers and their systems that are expanding existing systems (adding more panels) and we're trying to get accurate values.

Its very rare when they want to expand that we would use the exact same panels. Most systems support multiple Strings / MPPT's now and we can add differing Array(s) a few years later. Leaving alone the old  panels they've invested in. Or simple add-on using a standalone charge controller.

It also very odd that you would allow multiple inverters but lock the design into a single type of panel. I have installed standard monos on the roof while installing Bifacial's to a ground mount for same customer using different controllers. This is is becoming common for me with homes with limited space between roof and ground to have to split up into smaller more focused purpose built arrays.

Sol-Arks, my personal fav, has multiple controllers (2-3) and is often my go-to for this type of scenario.

I'd like to add my vote to this feature for reasons already stated.

Any update on this? This is a huge need for California market since NEM3 was enacted.

Also find myself needing the ability to add 2 solar module types to one project.
