In OpenSolar you can use Manual 3D Design when you want build a design on a Sight Plan
By leveraging on Manual 3D you can still get the same accuracy and precision as the automatic 3D and Shade Analysis.Â
This video will help you build Multi-Layer Houses on Imported Sight Plans and Scale the Image.

Hello, my name's Chris, one of the Pro Experience Specialists here at OpenSolar. And in this short video, I'm going to be explaining how to design a 3D building from plans. So to start, you'll need to input the information about the customer and their energy and then move over. To design. From design, the property that we're looking for here unfortunately hasn't been built. So come up to the design mode, select manual, and let the system refresh. So from here, come back up to design. Manual, and then you'll see the image. The image needs to be a jpeg, and cannot be a PDF, but with that image, you can upload it. It's always important to make sure that when you format and is also facing north. From here you'll need to line up the map and the image. So if you zoom in on the image, you can see here there is the sizing plan. So come up to the advanced menu, select the roof, and drop yours. Points down. So as you can see ours is currently a little bit short. If I hover above this, I can come over here to the edge and I can select five meters. So now I know my measurement here is five meters so I can click the align map tool. The line goes transparent and I can use the zoom-in and zoom-out functionality to get me to where I need to be. Once that you can delete that measurement. And then you can get on with building the building knowing that the measurements are correct. You can always check these measurements again. If your system has any measurements on it, you can always just double it. Check those as well, and you can enter them manually if need be. So I know this one here is. 5200. And I know this measurement here is free. 735. I'm just going to square this up so it is correct in its placement. And then I know that this is a free-story building. This section is. Free stories. So I'm just going to make the stories correct there. From now I will need to build the rest of the roof. In the case of this building, I'm going to have to use the manual mode. So to do so, come up to the advanced menu, and select roof. Starting with my bottom point here, side to side. Come up to the center, across, and back down. You'll need to do this for each section. Of course, you can check the measurements and make any alterations that are needed. I'm going to do the rest of it off-screen. Once you've built all the sections of the roof, you can right-click on them and set what the edge is. You don't need to do this for each section. You can do this stage if you don't want to, but I always find it helps me. So now I can see that all those edges there are now the gutter. So from here, what I'm going to do is I'm going to do the gutter. What I'm going to do is I'm going to come back up to design mode and I'm going to select no ground imagery. So this is now giving me my property. As you can see though, the roofs are all flat at the moment. So you're going to have to come in here. And make adjustments to make adjustments. Just select the edge. That you wish to adjust and you can then pull it down. This normally does the full building. That you may have to do each one individually. Once you have set that up, you can then add any additional features that the property may have. Such as dormers. And to do that, come to the advanced menu. Select a frame dormer. And just draw them on. Of course, duplicating if you've got multiple that you need to add. And of course, any obstructions that you may have. So such as a shed. Because this property is going to have an air conditioning unit on the top. I'm just going to drag this out of course using the measurements that I've got. We're on the plans. And of course, then we also have our. Velux window which was here. So I'm just going to draw that in. And as I always do I always then adjust the slope so that it is. Just above the rest of the roof. But that is how you build off a plan. This then gives you the ability to build using the solar radiation in that local area to work out the amount of sun this property is going to get. And you know that when you're placing your powers on. The roof that they are going to work correctly for you. I hope that helps. If you need any help or support though, please don't hesitate to reach out, and as always have a sunny day.
