What are Buildable Panels?
Buildable Panels is a new feature for panel groups that allows an admin with design-edit permissions to determine which panels can be added or removed by a designer who only has permissions to edit panels. In this article, we will explain how to use Buildable Panels.
Using Buildable Panels
The Designer has full editing permissions for the design and can also set buildable panels. This can be done either on a per-panel group basis or for all panels using a new accordion option.
The Salesperson has read/edit permissions for the project's panels but only read permissions for the project's design. They can disable existing buildable panels and activate panels on existing panel groups if they are designated as "buildable." They cannot edit any other aspects of the system, such as settings or inverters/batteries.
Using Buildable Panels with Teams
The Buildable Panels feature is essential for Teams and their shared projects. The Project Owner has full access to the design, while the Connected Organization has Project-Design-Panels Edit permission only. This means the connected org can tweak and enable/disable specified systems but cannot change the full design, preventing bias in calculations. For changes beyond their permissions, the connected org must escalate the request to the main org for approval, ensuring design accuracy and consistency.
How to Buildable Panels?
In Control section
- For Internal Team Members:
-
- In the Control section, set the user's role permission for Design to "View only."
- Set the user's role permission for Design - Panels to "View and Edit."
- For Connected Organizations (Teams):
-
- Go to Teams → Connected Orgs → Sharing Permissions.
- Create a permission with the following settings:
- Design: View only
- Design - Panels: View and Edit
- Use this sharing permission or project access type when sharing a project to use Buildable Panels.
In Design section:
- Panels can only be marked as buildable by a user that has the Design → Edit permission.
- In Design will see a "Set all as Buildable" button to the panels tab and also for each panel group menu which will either set all active panels as buildable (if clicked at the top level) or all of the active panels in the panel group that is selected
- Once any panels have been set as Buildable, then a button should appear which allows you to clear all buildable panels (either at the top level or at the panel group level).
- Disable all design functionality except editing buildable panels when the Design - Edit permission is OFF
This allows a Pro user to view but not edit designs, while still being able to enable/disable panels that are marked as Buildable.
