This article will explain how to use the detailed pricing feature that OpenSolar has for components such as Modules, Inverter, Batteries and Other components.
The detailed pricing allows you to set the cost, labour, and price adjustments (per unit, per panel and per watt) for each piece of hardware either on a system size (kW) or Number of components used basis.
In order to use the feature and set up your detailed pricing, you will need to have access to Control zone and go to Control > Design & Hardware > Modules/Inverters/Batteries/Other components. Edit one of the components, this example will edit an inverter.
Next to one of the costing/pricing fields, click on the "Enter detailed pricing".
This will expand the detailed pricing for one of the fields:
From here you can choose whether you would like to set the pricing based on "System Size (kW)" or "Number of Components". The option that you choose will impact what the "Tier" fields are referring to.
The "Price" field will set the price for the corresponding tier. And the "Tier" field will define when that pricing level stops. So if we want to set the COGS to be $200 per unit for systems with size up to and including 5kW we would enter it like this:
You will then need to either set the COGS per unit for all system sizes above this by simply entering in the next "Price" value and then leave the corresponding "Tier" field blank (which will apply that price to all remaining Tiers.
OR you can choose to continue to set prices for Tiers, for example we can set the COGS per unit to be $150 for system sizes > 5kW and up to and including 10kW like this:
Then we can set the COGS per unit to be $120 for all remaining Tiers and then save it by clicking save in the bottom right corner of the screen .
For the Number of Components method this will work in a similar way, but instead the Tier refers to the Number of that component that is used (i.e. if it is a battery, then you can set the COGS per unit depending on how many of that battery are added).
The price that you set in each Tier will then correspond to the price of each battery in that Tier.
Note: If you ever want to clear out the detailed pricing you can click the "Clear detailed pricing", but please note that this will wipe the detailed pricing that you have entered.
