This feature is available to admins of the OpenSolar account and is located in the control zone of the app.
In the control zone, you have the ability to upload PDF documents for your:
- Contract (control > purchase experience > contract template)
- Generic document (control > other > document templates)
For example, let's run through how this works for setting up your contract. Go to control > purchase experience > contract template > . Then give your contract a title and click save.
You will then see the question: How would you like to create this template?
The Text-based/HTML Editor is the more flexible option. It allows for full customization and lets you use conditional logic to show or hide content based on things like whether a battery is included in the design. The PDF Drag-and-Drop is the fastest way to get your document setup. This option lets you upload your file and drag fields directly onto it without having to worry about formatting the underlying document.
PDF Drag-and-Drop has been selected. Click to upload a PDF that you want to use as the base file for your template. This saves a private file in your account. If you ever want to change the underlying PDF you can do so by clicking the same button.
Then select a sample project, system and placeholder. This is so you can use real project to easily select your preferred placeholders. Click "load sample data" and then you'll see a new menu appear on the left, as the picture below:
You can click on any of these headings to expand that section and view the available placeholders with actual examples of what each placeholder would pull. If there is a placeholder you would like to insert into your contract, then simply drop and drag it into the document on the right. To remove the placeholders from your document, you can either drag the placeholder off of the PDF or you can click the arrow on the placeholder and then click delete.
Note that there is even a placeholder section for Docusign tags so you can drag those items into your PDF too (for e.g. signature, dates, initials, etc.).
Once you have finished formatting/editing your placeholders in your new PDF contract you can click .
The contract you have just created will appear like the text-based/HTML version of the contract within the online proposal/PDF proposal.
The same steps apply for uploading a PDF document for a generic document within control > other > document templates > +create > select the type as "generic document".
