This article is in the Control zone of the App.
Pricing Schemes are found by going to Control > Pricing & Payments > System Pricing
This article will show how the various pricing schemes are calculated on Opensolar.
For information on how to set-up new pricing schemes please see How to Set-up Pricing Schemes.
The pricing schemes are as follows:
- Price per Watt
- Markup Percentage
- Price per Watt by Size
- Fixed Price
Price per Watt
The system's price is based on a price-per-watt and price-per-kWh. These are entered INCLUSIVE of Tax.
Inputs:
- Price per Watt Inc. Tax
- Price per kWh Inc. Tax
- Tax (amount of tax in % which is included in the price)
Extra costs have tax applied and then are added to the calculated price. See What are Extra Costs? for information on extra costs)
So the final price is calculated by:
(Final Price Inc. Tax) = (Price Per Watt Inc. Tax) x (System Size in Watts) + (Battery Price Per kWh Inc. Tax) x (Total Battery Size in kWh) + (Extra Costs Ex. Tax) x (100% + Tax)
Markup Percentage
This price is based on the defined target markup on top of costs you've included in Presets and for specific equipment.
Inputs:
- Markup Percentage
- Tax (amount of tax in % which is included in the price)
All costs are configured in two ways within the control zone:
- COGS costs are added to specific equipment (EXCLUSIVE of Tax) (See How to Add/Update Modules, Inverters, Batteries and Other Components for how to do this).
- Detailed system costs and Extra Costs can also be updated in Control (EXCLUSIVE of Tax) (See How to Update Your Advanced Costs.
(Price Ex. Tax) = (Equipment COGS Ex. Tax) x (Markup Percentage) + (Detailed system costs and Extra costs Ex. Tax) x (Markup Percentage)
(Final Price Inc. Tax) = (Price Ex. Tax) x (100% + Tax)
Price Per Watt by Size
System is priced using price-per-watt (for a particular size) INCLUSIVE of Tax. Pricing band is determined based on system size.
This is desirable if you wish to allow larger systems to use a lower price-per-watt.
Batteries are priced using price-per-kWh of combined battery storage INCLUSIVE of Tax. Pricing band is determined based on combined battery size in kWh (not system size). Typically larger battery installations will use a lower price-per-kWh.
Inputs:
- Price per Watt (0-100+ kW) Inc. Tax
- Price per kWh (0-100+ kWh) Inc. Tax
- Tax (amount of tax in % which is included in the price)
Extra costs have tax applied and then are added to the calculated price. See What are Extra Costs? for information on extra costs)
(Final Price Inc. Tax) = (Price Per Watt corresponding to system size Inc. Tax) x (System Size in Watts) + (Battery Price Per kWh corresponding to system size Inc. Tax) x (Total Battery Storage in kWh) + (Extra Costs Ex. Tax) x (100% + Tax)
Note: For both systems and batteries, blank pricing tiers will automatically use the closest pricing tier which has been set. Where the higher and lower pricing tiers are the same distance apart, the lower tier will be used.
Fixed Price
Pricing is fixed and entered INCLUSIVE of Tax. Useful when fixed price packages are offered.
Inputs:
- Price Inc. Tax
- Tax (amount of tax in % which is included in the price)
Extra costs are NOT applied to the final price. (See What are Extra Costs? for information on extra costs)
(Final Price Inc. Tax) = (Fixed Price Inc. Tax)
