To access your proposal templates, click on the Proposal Templates button on the left sidebar under Purchase Experience
Creating Your Default Proposal Template
When you first click on Proposal Templates, it will be empty. Any proposals that are made will be generated using the default settings.
To create a new proposal template, click on + Create
This will then bring you to a page where you can name your template and set it to be the default.
Complete this and then click Save
You will then be taken to a list of all proposal templates which will now have the one you just created. Click on Edit
You will now be taken to the proposal customisation page where there are four main sections:
1. Proposal Settings
Firstly, you will be able to set the default proposal validity in days:
This will impact the date which is shown in placeholder "Valid Until Date". It will incorporate the date that the project was created and the number of days shown here in order to calculate this date.
The next thing you will be able to see in this section is the capability to toggle what you want to be displayed in both the interactive MyEnergy Proposal and PDF Proposal. For example, you can see here how one of the options affects what is displayed on the MyEnergy page:
Next is a list of Featured Figures which represent what calculations will be displayed in the proposal. To remove figures, simply click the ‘X’ next to the figure you wish to remove.
To add figures click beneath to bring up a list of all available options. Only up to four will be displayed.
You then have an option to add a Business Video. Here you are able to paste a YouTube link in to give your customers a rundown of your business via video.
By using the drop down under Systems to Include in PDF, you can either choose to include the "Selected" system option in the PDF or to include "All" system options in the PDF.
You choose which system is selected or not in the interactive MyEnergy proposal. If the "Selected" option was used then only the 6 Panels would be displayed in the PDF, but if the "All" option was chosen then both the 6 Panel system and the 12 Panel system would be included in the PDF.
Similarly with payment options you can choose to either include the options which are "Selected" or include "All" payment options.
Next you have the option to choose whether you would like to include exhibited content or not.
OpenSolar also allows you to choose which product types you wish to be "Featured" in your proposal. If you select a product type to be featured then it will display the "Featured" description (if one has been created for it) and the section for it within the proposal will be larger. Otherwise it will display the standard description and the area will be smaller.
OpenSolar allows you to include custom content blocks throughout the proposal. By default in the proposal Settings, you will see three different blocks that you can switch on and move through the proposal by using the arrows. In proposal content, with the WYSIWYG editor, you can include images, text and placeholders in this section.
2. Cover Page Template
This section covers all of the options that are available to you for customising your proposal (PDF) cover page.
First you will have the option to edit the heading which appears on the cover page.
Then you will able to choose the cover page image that you would like to display. There is a default image already set-up which will be used if you do not upload one.
Now you will be able to update the co-branding logo which is used in your proposal.
The next part of the cover page which you can customise is the message to the customer. You can do this by using the place-holders which will call on the inputs that you have made when you enter in various details including the customer information, user information and company information.
To add a placeholder, click on the icon and then choose the placeholder from the drop-down list.
You also have the ability to edit the Headers and Footers which will appear in the PDF. See the images to understand exactly what is changed by the various text boxes within the proposal template.
3. Standard Page Template
In this subsection of Proposal Templates you are able to edit the standard page template. This allows you to edit what will be displayed as the footer for each standard page in the PDF proposal.
4. Proposal Content
About Us and Next Steps are the first pieces of content that you can edit. Each of these are text-editors (you can find about how to use text-editors here). In this section, you are able to edit the content for your About Us, Next Steps and you are able to edit all of the Headings for each section and also add any Disclaimers for each section.
You can add in text, placeholders and images to customise these sections.
Next you can edit the Headings which are displayed above each relevant section in MyEnergy and the PDF proposal.
Within the Quotation Table, you can choose to include the price per Watt for your project, which will appear near your total system price.
Next you will also have the option to edit any Disclaimers that you wish to include in your proposal.

Creating an Additional Proposal Template
If you wish to tailor specific proposals for special circumstances then you can create additional proposals that have different layouts or focus on different pieces of equipment for example.
