Some manufacturers provide the total warranted kWh of a battery as the energy throughput. This value can be found in the warranty sheet provided by the manufacturer. Here's an example of warranted kWh for LG RESU batteries.
When the value is not provided by the manufacturer, you can use the formula below to calculate it.
To calculate the total warranted kWh you need to know the warranty of the battery in years or number of cycles, battery depth of discharge and the battery optimal energy.
If warranty is in years
Total Warranted kWh = (Warranted Years x 365) x Depth of Discharge x Optimal Energy
or
Total Warranted kWh = (Warranted Years x 365) x Usable Energy
If warranty is in number of cycles
Total Warranted kWh = Warranted Cycles x Depth of Discharge x Optimal Energy
or
Total Warranted kWh = Warranted Cycles x Usable Energy
Note: If the battery is discharged only once per day then the warranty period may expire well before the warranted kWh are all used up.
