OpenSolar’s mounting calculator now supports SolarNEST’s ground mount and rooftop systems, making it easy to generate a full, accurate mounting BOM in just seconds. Design faster with accurate calculations and fewer manual steps.
How to use the integration
- Access your project and select the design tab.
- Add panels to your design.
- For SolarNEST, it is recommended to place 2 panels to begin with, as step 4 will snap the panels into the correct configuration settings, after which you can lay more panels.
- Navigate to the Mounting tab
- Depending on whether you are designing for a flat roof or ground mount, specify this in the Selected Mounting System Type
- Select SolarNEST
Note: the panels’ orientation is adjusted to landscape, and racking set to dual-tilt to reflect SolarNEST’s panel configurations (you can see this in the panels’ basic settings by selecting the panels)
- You can now lay the desired number of panels
SolarNEST is designed to have panels facing E/W, you can rotate the panels using our azimuth control against the compass tool
Configure your preferences using our customizable dropdowns and inputs
- Tilt options:
- East/West tilt
- Triple tilt (E-W-S) is designed for optimal output
- Soil type
- Frost line depth
- Ground clearance
- Ground slope
- Wind speed: Is fetched from our externally integrated server
- Design Snow Load: Is fetched from our externally integrated server
Once the setup is complete, the hardware will be added to the design. You can review the automated BOM in the mounting tab
